this weekend @ sfbc - August 2nd

SFBC Family,

Sunday was one of those Sundays, we wish we could have every week. This past Sunday, we celebrated as 6 new followers of Jesus were baptized and saw 6 more decisions during the invitation. It was a great time of celebration and worship. I am thankful I was there! Attendance was also really good and the fellowship was fun, it was so good to see people laughing and talking after church. Then the blessings continued on Sunday night as DeWayne preached and the student praise team lead the worship. Then to top it off we saw a generous offering to help one of our own families. It was awesome to see God move in such a way. I pray that we will continue to see God touching lives in the weeks to come. School will be starting next week and many will be back to a more regular schedule. I am hoping attendance will go through the roof and that we will be able to experience growth and that many will come to trust Christ.

Our students are experiencing something special, as they are still fired up after MFUGE. I believe this ministry will explode in growth once school starts. Many of our students will be camping this weekend at Barren Lake for a retreat and some fun before the start of school. Pray for them this weekend and ask that they return ready to impact LaRue County for Christ this fall. Our children's ministry is also poised to begin a great fall. After a record attendance at VBS and seeing so many children attend each weekend, I am excited to think what AWANA will be like as we kick it off on August 12th. Our children will also be sharing a musical on Sunday evening. They have worked all summer with Bro Randy and will be performing on Sunday night. Good things are happening at South Fork!

Many of you are reading or planning to read the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan. This is one of the most challenging books I have read. It calls us to follow Christ and be crazy in love with our Savior. We will be offering several small group options for Crazy Love beginning in September. If you would like to lead an on campus or off campus (home) group please see email me or see me at church. To host the study all you will need to do is open your home to a group of 10 or less, be able to operate a DVD player, and lead the discussion. The groups will meet for 10 weeks. We will offer this to some Sunday School class also. Please pray about participating in a small group!

This Sunday, Justin Johnson will be sharing a message with our church family. A few weeks ago Justin surrendered to ministry. He has been able to go to some local churches already and will be sharing his first message at South Fork this weekend. Justin is no stranger to us, he grew up in our church and has a powerful testimony. This Sunday, we as a church family will celebrate God's and affirm God's call on Justin. Please pray for him this week and join for this special day on Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - July 26

SFBC Family,

We have had a great week of VBS at South Fork! It is no vacation, just ask those who serve. But what a great job everyone has done in serving the students this year. Everyone spirit has been great as everyone has worked together to make sure kids have a wonderful experience on the boomerang express. We have averaged 144 students and had an average total attendance of 250. This is a record attendance during my time as pastor. We have also had at least two decision for Christ this week and I think we will see more tonight and on Sunday. Thank you all for serving, praying, attending, and inviting people to our VBS. Sandy and her team have done an outstanding job! We are looking forward to the celebrating VBS tonight with our splash party and worship rally. The worship rally begins at 5:30pm. I hope to see you, for what should be a fun and exciting evening.

It is awesome to see everyone stepping up and serving during VBS. Did you know there are several areas in our church that need you . . . AWANA is our weekly children's ministry, that teaches the Bible, provides game time, and a council time to help children come to know Christ. This ministry meets each Wednesday night from 6pm - 8pm and follows the school calendar. AWANA is in need of several workers and leaders. We also have been serving a meal for AWANA workers and kids each night at 5:30pm. If we don't get several more volunteers this ministry may have to be discontinued. I know that God has given us more than enough people to serve, we are just waiting on you to step up. If you are interested in working or leading during AWANA contact Machelle McDowell at, Machelle.McDowell@ky.gov if you are interested in helping with AWANA meals contact Pam Miller at pdmiller28@hotmail.com the church office 325-3626. Don't wait until you see them or until Sunday, email today.

Snooze button follow up - world's biggest alarm clock . . . check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ-l5PlDa-k . . . . time to wake up!

We will be celebrating baptism again this Sunday! We have been blessed during the past year to see several people make decisions for Christ and be baptized. Please don't take this for granted. what an awesome experience it is for us to see people Believe and be baptized. I am preaching Sunday morning and Dewayne will be preaching Sunday night. Please be sure to join us both services this weekend as we worship Christ together.

See you this weekend @ sfbc

VBS update

sfbc family,

We saw a record night at VBS on Sunday. 147 children and youth attended! With a total attendance of 279. What an awesome group of workers! Thank you for serving during Bible School.

Here's what we are asking you to do this afternoon and evening.

Pray for our VBS. Pray for our workers and students today, that God will touch each life present. I was saying "bed night prayers" with Jordan last night as she thanked God for a great day of VBS, she took me my surprised when she asked God to double the attendance! Not sure how God might answer that prayer but do think this could be a great week to see God work in our church and our kids.

Invite children and families to attend VBS, our schedule is 5:30pm - 8:30pm each night. With family night on Thursday.

Come serve. Just see Sandy Kidd and she will point you in the right direction.

Thank you for allowing us to Connect People to Jesus through VBS!

see you tonight,
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - July 12th

sfbc family,

Our students will be returning from M-FUGE on Saturday night. Please remember to pray for them as their week comes to a close. Pray their week has been life changing and that the excitement of worship, mission, and fellowship sweep through our students and entire church family. Pray that they have made life changing spiritual commitments.

Our team heading to Delaware leaves on Sunday morning. I will be going with this team along with 12 others from our church family. We will be doing back yard Bible School, working with a church in strengthen evangelism and sharing through block party, survey, Bible giveaways. This trip is part of the Maryland / Delaware Partnership with the Kentucky Baptist Convention. You can find out more about the partnership and ways to pray here http://www.kybaptist.org/kbc/welcome.nsf/pages/pshipmdde. Please pray for this team as they travel and serve. Dewayne will be preaching on Sunday! I am sure he will be worn out but excited about what has happened this past week at M-FUGE. Be sure to attend, I am sure God will bless and this will be a great Sunday at South Fork. I hate to miss it.

Think about it, this summer we will have seen over 100 people in our church serve on mission. Connecting People to Jesus is spreading through our church! Please get connected there are so many ways for you to serve. This week I listened to a sermon by Ed Stetzer. The sermon's title is "What's a Pastor to Do". It is about the "job" of a pastor. Very good for me to be reminded, would be good for you too. But one of the tasks is equipping others. I am blessed to pastor a church so commitment to the task of reaching others.
Here is the link to the sermon, http://firstbaptisthendersonville.com/Ministries/FirstMedia/StreamingAudio.aspx, it is worth a listen.

Our Team will return from Delaware on Saturday, July 18th, and I will be preaching on Sunday, July 19th and looking forward to Vacation Bible School.

Thank you to everyone who helped with our picnic. It was a lot of fun. Thank you to those who setup, cleaned up, brought food, grilled, sang, and of course the fireworks team. Fireworks were a great show! This is a fun event and a highlight of our summer. We also had the opportunity to pray with three girls from Glendale who all trusted Christ! Read that again, three teenagers from Glendale! Awesome, and all indication is that they will be baptized in he future at South Fork. How cool is that?
One last recommendation. Please consider reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Our church staff is reading it as well as several other members, some have recently completed the book. This book came to me at just the right time and has challenged me. We all need this. I will begin rereading it on the mission trip to Delaware. Find out more about Cray Love at http://www.crazylovebook.com,

You can get a copy at Lifeway or online at http://www.christianbook.com for $9.99.

Have a great weekend,
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - July 2

sfbc family,

It is a huge weekend in our church family. Students will leave for MFUGE on Sunday morning, early! Please pray for them as they travel to Charleston, SC for a week of missions camp. Pray that this will be a life changing week for them. Pray for their travel and for their spiritual growth as they spend this time focused on serving and worshipping Christ. Sunday afternoon is our church and community picnic at Sportsman's Lake. The picnic begins at 5:30pm. There will be games, music, and fireworks. This a fun event to invite your family and friends to attend with you. The picnic is a first step to connecting people to Christ. It introduces them to our church family, in a relaxed setting, and helps us to build relationships. Many times, it is through these relationships that we get opportunities to share the gospel. Bring a side dish or dessert with you. We will be grilling burgers and hotdogs. Some drinks have been provided but we still need coolers of drinks and ice. We will conclude the evening with fireworks.

On Sunday, July 12th we will be sending a team to Willington, Delaware to work with the Latter Day Baptist Church. This team will be leading Backyard Bible School, doing prayer walks, community surveys, and encouraging this church. There are still openings for this team. If you would like to be a part of missions in Delaware email me or contact Randy or Suzanne Hines on Sunday. The team will leave Sunday, July 12th and return on Saturday, July 18th. On Friday, as they return, the team will stop by Washington, DC. This is a great opportunity and would be a great first mission trip!

Vacation Bible School begins July 19th! We still need some teachers and workers. If you can serve even a day or two please do so. VBS is a powerful week for our children, I heard this year VBS called a revival for children. What a great description! Please plan on bring your children and serving in VBS.

Please do attend this weekend. I know it is a holiday weekend and you are busy. We will conclude the "button" sermon series. The sermon title is the snooze button and I pray that you will find it challenging and inspiring.

Lots to do in serving Christ this month. Please pray and get connected.

See you this weekend @ sfbc,
