this weekend @ sfbc - February 28th

sfbc family,

Stress. We all face it in different ways and it can causes us to lose our focus as we walk with Christ. In his Turning Point Daily Devotional for Feb. 18, 2010, David Jeremiah shares this: "A Netherlands-based electronics firm is creating a bracelet that will change color and flicker from yellow to red when a person's emotions rise to unhealthy levels. It's being developed chiefly for stock traders on European exchanges. When trading becomes too intense and the trader's blood pressure rises, the device will issue a warning to 'take a time-out, wind down or reconsider their actions,' said the manufacturer. The results, hopefully, will be beneficial to investors--to say nothing of the stock brokers themselves.

"If everyone on earth were wearing such a bracelet right now, how many would be red? Would yours?

"The greatest antidote to stress is worship. Worship is recognizing Gods greatness and glory and, in response, expressing our pleasure and praise. It's not about us, how we feel or the kind of music we enjoy. It's about the One who is the same yesterday, today and forever. It's about who He is and what He has done.

"We don't need a bracelet on our wrists but simply a heart of worship that adores and praises the greatness of God's glory."

Be sure to join us on Sunday as we recognize His greatness and glory and respond with praise.

See you this weekend,
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - February 14th

SFBC Family,

Snow, cold, no school, and no activities last night at church, makes for a strange week. Wednesday are such a busy time of ministry and I really miss it when we have to cancel them. I hope you miss them too. A lot of ministry happens on Wednesday nights each week; a light meal is provided at 5:30pm, AWANA our children's ministry runs from 6pm - 8pm during this time children ages preschool - 5th grade spend time singing, learning Bible verses, playing games, participate in counsel / teaching time, and missions. Adults have a time of prayer and a short Bible Study from 6pm - 7pm and our students and several adults worship together from 7pm - 8pm. Lots of activity and lots of ministry. If you haven't attended Wednesday in a while, try it this week, I bet you will like them and like me miss them when you don't get to go. You don't know what you got until it gone, that's true with Wednesday nights. It is a blessing to see our church family so engaged in using their talents for Christ.

I want to encourage you to attend and bring a guest on Sunday, February 21st. We have a very unique opportunity to host a DOVE award winning couple from Nashville. During March, we will be distributing invitation bags in our community to invite people to church. These will be bags of information about our church and include a presentation of the gospel. You are going to hear more about this project in the next few weeks. Pray for our community and state as churches begin to engage their neighbors by inviting them to attend.

Don't forget Sunday is Valentines Day!

this weekend @ sfbc - February 7th

sfbc family,

I know that you faithfully suffer through my preaching each week but I want you to think about suffering in another light this morning. I want you to remember that Jesus spoke that in this world we would have trouble see John 16:33, we see it all around us and many times are caught in the middle of it. Suffering, trouble, difficult circumstance, storms (no matter what we call them) hurt. But the fact that we all face these things is not the focus of this email. I want you to see beyond the suffering and focus on a God who is bigger than suffering. God has always delivered His people. Job faced the unthinkable loss of health, wealth, and family, yet his faith was in an unshakeable God. Stephen (you should have read about him this week in Acts) a faithful servant of Christ, who loved Christ more than life, gave his life for the gospel. And is his story, we find Christ standing and welcoming him into his presence (see Acts 7). Paul, who would be shipwrecked, stoned, thrown into prison. and finally give his life for the gospel, would tells us that nothing is able to separate us from the love of Christ. Jesus would suffer, the pain of the garden, the ripping away of the flogging, and the torture of the cross. In fact the word passion means suffer, so the passion of Christ is the suffering of Christ. He suffered for you and me to bring us to God, love that is remarkable yet given freely. His resurrection proves that God is able and bigger than suffering. You circumstance may be unbearable today, but God is bigger and able to love you through it and promises that we will overcome because His has overcome. Focus on Him today!

See you this weekend.
Bro Norm
