this weekend @ sfbc - March 28th

SFBC Family,

Easter is just two weeks away. Many people will attend Easter services who do not normally attend a worship service. That is one reason that I make it a priority to be very simple and present the good news that the resurrection brings to our lives. We don't do the anthems that sometimes you hear on Easter and our message is not 10 reasons to believe the resurrection. In other words our vision is not to put together a worship service for believers but one that will engage the unchurched, dechurched, and lost with the message of who Jesus is and what it means to you. So, please invite your friends, family, and ONE's, to attend one of our Easter services. I also know that it will be Spring Break and several people have planned to travel to Florida. If you will be out of town for Easter, please do stop and pray for our services and take time to think about the meaning of Easter for you personally.

This Sunday, we need you to help with "Find It Here". As we blank our community with invitations to attend our church. We will meet at 4pm and be going to our areas and return to the church at 7pm to celebrate. We hope to deliver over 1,100 invitations this weekend. We need drivers and people who will be brave enough to hang a bag on a door. It is a simple way to invite people in our area. Many people often ask, why do we go on mission to other places when there is much to do here, this is an opportunity to do something here, please come help us, we need you! I hope you will join us on Sunday. I believe God is going to show up big!

Sunday, I will share a message about our vision and encourage you to get connected and involved. You only get back what you put in and church is definitely worth the invest of your time, energy, and resources. I love our church and I know you do too. Please begin now to think about ways to get more involved in our church.

See you this weekend @ sfbc

this weekend @ sfbc - March 21st

sfbc family,

While it may seems to be out of place to talk about harvesting in the spring, Jesus told us that the spiritual harvest was ready. In doing so He reminds us not to wait, people need to hear about Christ today. He also said to ask the Lord to send workers into the harvest, he says pray for workers. One thing we never have enough of is people willing to serve. Harvesting can be hard work, anyone who has ever cut tobacco or tossed a bale of hay will tell you so. But without people willing to get involved the work simply doesn't get done. There are many areas that need you at South Fork. Areas of service that you could fill. Would you please pray about one or more of these and then get involved by joining us in Connecting People to Jesus?

We need . . . .

  • Workers to help with our Easter Egg Hunt.
  • Drivers and teams for Find It Here.
  • Nursery Workers and Greeters for our 8:30am service.
  • Card Teams are starting back, we need several people to help write cards to guests, two teams to rotate a couple of Sundays per month.
  • Leaders for Bible Studies/small groups that will meet on Sunday nights.
  • Teacher/Leader with desire to begin new adult Sunday School class.
  • Children's Church leaders and workers.
  • AWANA Handbook helpers.
  • Workers for the welcome center on Sunday Mornings.

These are just a few ways to serve at South Fork. We need you, God wants you to be involved, so what's holding you back. Call the church office or send me an email, we will help you get involved!

Please join us on Saturday night at the Hodgenville Civic Center for a special Africa Missions Concert. This gospel concert is hosted by Mark Ramsey, it will be a blessing to you and your attendance will go a long way to encourage our Africa Mission Team. Please attend, offer your prayers, I know you leave blessed. The concert begins at 7pm. I hope to see you there! I know, there are lots of excuses and reasons to not give up a Saturday night, but please do attend if for no other reason than to support South Fork's mission team.

By the way . . . Who are you bringing with you to Easter weekend? Begin now praying, inviting, and working towards a phenomenal weekend for Jesus.

Let’s pray for a great Sunday together.
See you this weekend @ sfbc,
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - March 14th

sfbc family,

"Find It Here" is a state wide initiative to invite people to attend worship. Ky. Baptists are visiting their communities and delivering Find It Here bags to each home. We will be participating in Find It Here on Sunday evening March 28th. We will meet at church at 4pm to get our materials and then we will go into our areas and hang the invitation on doors all over our community. Our bag contains information about our church and ministry, a special invitation to attend Easter worship, a tract that presents the gospel, and a cd (The Invitation by Rick Warren). We hope to deliver at least 1,000 of these bags on this night. Please think about participating on March 28th, we need drivers and people who will go and invite others. Here is a mission opportunity right here in our community, that will reach more than 1000 homes!

We will also meet back at the church at 7pm that night to celebrate and pray (some snacks will be available too). This will be a great Sunday to get your whole family involved in a mission activity at South Fork. Hope you will help us share the gospel ONE home at a time!

Time changes this Sunday (when you go to bed Saturday night). Time to Spring ahead one hour. I am looking forward to Spring and the things it brings.

this weekend @ sfbc - March 7th

SFBC Family,

Lots of things going on at South Fork this weekend. Please be sure to read the announcements below. Sunday is Student Sunday. Our students will be leading the service, singing, sharing testimonies, serving as ushers. This is a first for us, the praise team has lead the worship and Dewayne has shared several messages but this will be the first that is completely student lead. We are giving them an opportunity to learn and be involved. This should be a fun Sunday morning as we worship together.

I am all about the joy of living and following Jesus. The Bible teaches us that there is joy in serving Jesus. Too many times we allow our circumstances, our traditions, or even our attitudes to derail us from focusing on Christ and just enjoy worship and walking with Christ. I have decided for myself life is too short to miss the joy of loving, walking, and worshipping Jesus. Pray that joy might abound in me and that we will all will grow in joy. Don't let things, changes, or circumstances cause you to miss the joy of fellowship with Christ and His Church. Let's enter His gates with thanksgiving and gladness on our lips, hearts, and minds . . . . Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100:4). May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. (Psalm 68:3). Let's get back to enjoying church this Sunday.

Thank you for giving to the Haiti Relief fund, we have received over $2,000 in offerings and at least 35 buckets of Hope that will begin their journey today. South Fork is a giving and going church. You give of yourselves to love others, thank you for all you do in the name of Christ.

Thank you for all you did last weekend for the Matt Hanson Family. For the meal, the love, the support, for being the church when our community needed it. Was awesome to see and to experience. Thank you.

Hope to see you this weekend. Come with a joyous heart and you'll leave blessed!
all my love and prayers

Label are even easier. If you can give an hour or two to help any day, please contact me or Pam. We need several people. Once the bags are stuffed we will be providing them for you to give away. Thank you for helping!
