this weekend @ sfbc - May 2nd

sfbc family,

The forecast for the weekend is calling for rain and lots of it. I am thankful for the rain, but I hope we experience a spiritual down pour this weekend. One that results in people lives being forever changed by Jesus. Will you pray with me for Sundays service?

There are lots of events in May, it is always an exciting month at South Fork.. I pray that you will invite your family and friends to attend with you. We best impact our community and grow our church by word of mouth. If you are inviting people to attend, they will and do. If you stop we don't grow. It is the easy conversation to say, where do you attend church and invite someone to attend with you. No pressure, no guilt, just invite. Please invite someone this week.

Thank you for participating in the MFUGE fund raiser at Paula's. It was a fun night and successful providing over $2,100 for MFUGE. During May, on Senior Recognition Day, May 23rd, we will receive a special offering to invest in our students this summer. We do this every year and encourage you to give a special donation to MFUGE in honor of our 2010 graduating class. There are so many graduates that it is impossible to give a financial gift to each of them, but it is possible to give a donation to MFUGE and write this in their card. In honor of your commitment and graduation, I have give a gift to help our students serve on mission this summer. This gift will impact many lives, it is always a week of renewal for our students, a week of salvation for some, and a week of serving on mission. This one week usually provides a significant impact to our students, their families, and our church. Please pray about giving a special gift to our student ministry on May 23rd.

On Sunday, we will be celebrating baptism again this week at 11am. If you would like to be baptized please contact me, I would love to talk with you about your commitment to Christ.

Please continue to pray for our Oneida Mission Team as they wrap up their week and return home tomorrow. I know they have been a blessing and have been blessed. It is strange that so many times you set out to be a blessing to someone and the result is that you receive a huge blessing. That is the way of the Kingdom. I hope you are looking for opportunities to bless others this week with the love of God.

See you this weekend!
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - April 25th

SFBC Family,

We have a great weekend a head. I am really looking forward to worship on Sunday with our church family.

On Saturday many of our church family will enjoy dinner at Paula's. The dinner proceeds go to support our student mission trip this summer as we send over 90 students and adults for a week of mission camp in Nashville. Thank you student ministry leaders and students for your hard work and commitment.

Sunday Clifton Phelps will be our special guest in both the 8:30am and 11am services. Clifton, his wife, and children are planning to move to India this August to work with church planters and teach the Bible. You will be blessed to hear about God's call and his passion to follow it.

We will celebrate baptism on Sunday during the 11am worship service. If you are thinking about following Christ by being baptized or would like to know more about trusting Christ, please send me an email, see me at church, or call me. I would love to be able to talk with you about your decision.

Our church will also be sending a mission team to Oneida on Sunday. This team will work at the school all next week. Please pray for their ministry as they serve on mission.

Our new two service schedule is working well. We are getting several good comments about it. I want to encourage you to attend worship and Sunday School this weekend and while you are at invite someone to attend with you!

See you this weekend!
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - April 18th

sfbc family,

I know its Spring, not because the grass is growing, the flowers are blooming, or the leaves have suddenly appeared on the trees. I know it is Spring because the church is busy with activity.

From now until Memorial Day there will be something special on a weekend that involves our church family. This Sunday at 11am, we will have some special guests, from the Lincoln Presenters who will share some special music and history with us. This Sunday the 8:30 and the 11 service will be really different. I am preaching at 8:30, at 11am it will be more of a devotional summary. Both services will be unique. The 8:30am service is off to a great start and our goal is to continue to see about 125 - 150 people attend that service. I believe this service could soon reach 200 in worship. Please be faithful to attend worship at sfbc each Sunday morning.

Here is a quick overview of coming Sunday activities

April 25th - Clifton Phelps, (Caleb's Brother), is our guest. 8:30am & 11am.

May 2nd - Larue County Sports Day - we will be recognizing winter and spring sports teams 11am.

May 9th - Mother's Day

May 16th - Graduate Day - High School Seniors during the 11am worship 11am

May 23rd - AWANA awards at 6pm

May 30th - Memorial Day

We will be busy but these will be good days. Please plan to faithfully attend each weekend.

One thing I would like to challenge you about is to support the MFUGE Fund Raiser at Paula's. We need to sell out the tickets this weekend. Dewayne is worried, so lets buy them all this Sunday. It supports our students, is a great meal, you can buy tickets as a gift. Tonya and I will be buying two extra and inviting a couple to attend with us. Please South Fork let's do this. Paula gives us her restaurant for a night each year to allow us to provide a wonderful dinner and everything given is for MFUGE. You might say $15 is a lot for a meal. But you aren't just getting a meal, you are investing in our Students. There are 3 times to choose from 5pm, 6pm, or 7pm. Let's do this for God, our students, and for missions. Let's also show Dewayne that he doesn't have to worry. He will be amazed. You can purchase tickets after either service this weekend.

See you on Sunday,
Bro Norm

this weekend @ sfbc - April 11th

sfbc family,

Hope you have had a wonderful week. We had a wonderful Easter and many people helped to make it a great day at South Fork, thank you! I would like to encourage you to be at church on Sunday. Typically the Sunday following Easter attendance goes down and then the added last weekend of Spring Breaks could hurt. So please be in church on Sunday. I know several people will be traveling home on Saturday and will be tired, a good way to refresh your self from vacation and get back into your routine is to attend worship this weekend.

Next Sunday, April 18th, we will have some special guests. A national group of Lincoln personalities will be in town for the weekend and will be attending South Fork. They will be sharing some history of our church and sharing a special music. The will be dressed in period costume and will be available for pictures. It should be interesting to see 30 - 50 Lincoln's and Mary Todd's in the service. They have request our church and have shared some really interesting history about the Lincoln family and South Fork.

Our schedule this weekend will be a little different. We will host a Gideon Speaker in the 11am service and receive a special offering for their ministry after both services. The Gideon's provide copies of the Bible in almost every nation around the world. This is a wonderful ministry that we are able to support. At 11am, we will also celebrate baptism with Lesley one of the girls from Glendale. What an exciting time. The change is that I will be preaching during the 8:30am service. So our schedule looks like this

April 11th Schedule

8:30am Worship Bro Norm will be preaching

10am Sunday School

11am Worship with Baptism and special Gideon Speaker
.

Hope to see you at one of our services this weekend.

this weekend @ sfbc - April 4th, Easter

sfbc family,

Easter Weekend! Hope you are planning to join us this Weekend as we celebrate the Risen Christ, His resurrection is our hope!

Easter is always a great opportunity to bring a guest with you to church, so many people are open to invitations this time of year. All you have to do is ask, I believe many would say yes. It will be worth your time to invest in someone this week and invite them to attend with you this weekend. I realize that several people will be traveling this weekend due to spring break, I hope the earlier service will allow some to attend at 8:30am before they leave. If you are going to be out of town please have a safe and wonderful Spring Break, do pray for our church on Sunday, and remember as you travel to take some time to reflect on God's grace and praise Him for the Hope that He gives us. If you aren't going to be traveling for Spring Break, please do attend one of our services.

Sunday, we begin offering two morning worship opportunities. We have talked about this for sometime and are finally moving forward. One thing we know is that is going to be convenient for some families allowing people to attend early and then have more time on Sunday afternoons. Our ultimate vision is that it will allow us to another way to connect people who don't any church. Some stats say that LaRue County is as high as 70% unchurched. To reach people know one else is reaching, we must do what no one else is doing. It simply means our goal is not our comfort but to reach people who need Christ. Our hope is that we will be better able to do this and that this change will allow growth in our church. We will always tell you what to expect in each service, who is speaking and leading worship. This Sunday, the services will be almost identical and I will be preaching in both services. Please remember that nursery care is available at both service but children's church will only be offered at the 11am service right now. We know it will also bring challenges and that sometimes changes can be hard to get used to, but please do pray that God will great bless our efforts to Connect People to Jesus!

See you this weekend @ sfbc
