Father's Day this weekend

sfbc family,

Hope your week has been a great one! I sent an email this week from Pastor Ronnie Floyd about our responsibility to follow Christ. Dr. Floyd has been a great influence in my life. He was one of the first preachers I listen to after becoming a Christian. I wanted to know more about Christ and the church he serves had their worship services on television. Now, it is on the internet, times change. Through sermons, books, and now blogs, I have learned much from him. You know when you think about it there are lots of people who encourage us as we learn to walk with Christ. I am thankful for the people like Eula Mae Feltner, who gave me a copy of "My Utmost for His Highest" as my very first devotional book or my first pastor Claude Maggard, who taught me to love the lost and work together in missions. We do more together than we can alone. Or the Directors of Missions in my life, Roy, Lonnie, Gordon, who are friends and pastors to the pastor. Think about who has been as encourager in your life . . . maybe that Sunday School teacher when you were a child, a friend who just wouldn't give up on you, or maybe that person who is still encouraging you today. . . think about them and thank God for them. I pray that I can be one of them. You are an encourager for me. Thank you for being that in my life.

Here is one more word from Dr Ronnie Floyd.

As I have reviewed my day, I have learned or been reminded of several things. I want to share these with you today. In fact, we move so fast sometimes, we forget to stop long enough to remember various things. Here are my reminders from yesterday:

  • Reminder #1: Time with God is needed daily.
Reminder #2: Reviewing God’s activity in your past can have great encouragement for the future.

  • Reminder #3: Slowing down is good on some days.

  • Reminder #4: There is always something to learn.

  • Reminder #5: There is always something to deal with.

  • Reminder #6: It is always a joy to be with our people.

  • Reminder #7: NOTHING is more exciting to hear about than a miraculous work of God reaching down in salvation to a person.

  • Reminder #8: God answers prayer. Read #7.

Thank you for all the keep sending this weekend emails.

Sunday is Father's Day. Remember Dad this weekend and join us for worship on Sunday,
See you this weekend @ sfbc,
Bro Norm

Operation Worship Bibles
We have had a request for more Operation Worship Bibles. We have been able to get one additional case of Bibles. There are 32 Bible available for you to write a personal note to a soldier serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. Thank you for giving providing Bibles to US military personnel. All Operation Worship Bibles need to be returned by July 5th. Here is a web site for more information about Operation Worship Bibles http://www.operationworship.com/

Fourth of July Fireworks
We are receiving donations for our annual fourth of July fireworks show. Our 4th of July church picnic will be held at Sportsman's Lake on Sunday July 5th. You may give your donation to Trevor Clopton, James Jeffries, or designate your check and place it in the church offering. Our goal is $1500 to allow for a great fireworks display. This can be reached by each family giving $5 or $10 designated for fireworks. The picnic is well attended and is a great opportunity to bring your friends and introduce them to our church family.

Oneida Baptist Institute
On Father's Day, June 21st, we will receive the Barkley Moore offering for Oneida. This offering greatly helps the ministry at OBI as each Father's Day Ky Baptist give to this offering. Oneida would not be able to do many of the things they plan without it. There will be a special offering envelope available at the missions area or welcome center.

Vacation Bible School is July 19 - 23! Workers please sign up in the front foyer.
